Book an Appointment

Appointments can be made over phone or by email.

Consultations

To book an appointment, please call our reception at (08) 9312 2644. Due to high call volumes, our staff may not be able to respond to your call right away. In such cases, please send an email to admin@neurowest.com.au and we will return your call to confirm your appointment. If you require an urgent appointment, please ask your referring doctor to contact us directly. Before your appointment, please fill out this form.  The form contains essential information about your medical history and other relevant details, which will help us use our time with you more effectively.

What to expect

The first appointment typically lasts 45 to 60 minutes. This involves a comprehensive assessment and examination by our neurologist who will then discuss the diagnosis and further investigations and treatment with you. Your referring doctor will also receive a detailed letter outlining this.

Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early for registration. It is always a good idea to write any questions you might have for your neurologist.

Consultation fees

NeuroWest is a private medical practice. Most services attract a Medicare rebate; however, as a private practice, there are additional out-of-pocket expenses. The fees for consultations differ for complex and non-complex consultations. Fees for procedures (such as neurodiagnostic and botulinum toxin (BOTOX) injections) will also vary according to the complexity. An estimate of fees will be given to you by the receptionist at the time of booking. Payment via Credit Card / EFTPOS is preferred, but cash and cheques are also accepted.

We do not generally see patients relating to insurance, worker’s compensation or medicolegal matters. If you think this may apply to you, discuss this with our reception staff before making an appointment.

What to bring?

Please bring the following to your appointment:

  • Referral letter from your GP, family physician or other doctors.
  • All your medications or a list of all your medications including doses.
  • Medicare card, Veterans’ Affairs card, Age or Disability Support Pension Card.
  • MRIs and CT scans; copies of results of relevant tests, and any other relevant information.
  • A friend or family member. This is optional, however, their presence is highly recommended if you are coming for consultation of seizures or memory issues.

To change or cancel an appointment:

If you need to change or cancel your appointment, please notify us as soon as possible. Failure to cancel an appointment without 48 hours’ notice incurs a fee of $100 for missed new patient appointments and $50 for missed follow-up appointments. This will be payable prior to rescheduling your appointment.

    Repeat Scripts:

Your GP can provide you repeat prescriptions. You do not need to come to the clinic for repeat prescriptions unless mentioned during consultation.
